![]() | Constructing Melodic Jazz Improvisation I'd like to invite everyone to check out the new book Constructing Melodic Jazz Improvisation at Jazz Path The book is designed for beginning and intermediate level players and explores improvisation from melodic and creative perspectives. It's not the typical "here's the scale..now go improvise" approach. It explores phrasing, call and response, location within form, solo development, the use of motifs and dozens of other melodic concepts throughout 10 chapters and 168 pages. It also comes with a 52 track play-a-long and demo CD featuring my friends, and amazing musicians, Paul Schmeling (piano), Whit Browne (bass), James Lattini (drums), Daniel Ian Smith (alto), Jeff Galindo (trombone), and Trent Austin (trumpet). It's a pretty innovative approach and I hope you'll take a minute to look at it. There are some free previews of the book and free podcasts and audio lessons discussing melodic improvisation as well. All the best, Brian Kane Jazz Path |
