Re: Duke Ellington Orchestra Thanks for the shout out....I do want to let you that that was our TM friend on lead trumpet--the great Kevin Bryan. He kicked some serious booty tonight! it was great to share the stage with him along with trumpeters Mark McGowen and Reggie Pittman. It was my first time playing the gig. My fellow trumpeters helped my out all the way. Also, Barrie Lee Hall sounded absolutely fantastic tonight. Barrie is one of the overlooked masters of our music. He's one of my heroes!!! I hope to do the band again soon. Peace-RV

Re: Duke Ellington Orchestra Kevin Bryan plays lead with The Ellington Orchestra. In the past, he's played gigs with Harry Connick, The Tito Puente Orchestra, The Latin Giants of Jazz, several B'way shows....I'm not sure if he's done The Basie Band. He's a marvelous player......BTW, he killed it last night on the Cootie Williams feature. Great plunger work!!! Peace-RV

Re: Duke Ellington Orchestra Hello all, Thanks for the nice feedback. I feel privileged to work with this group. Ray, you did a fantastic job. You're a consummate pro who can fit into any situation at a moment's notice. The band's next appearance will be in Lakewood, NJ at the Strand theatre on Sunday 9/6. Hope to see some of you there. BTW, Tromj, you might be thinking of Kevin Louis who has worked frequently with the Basie band this year. He's a fantastic soloist as well as a dangerous hanging partner. -Kevin
