Funk Licks

Does anyone know where online I could find some funk licks? Trying to work up my pop chops.

I'm not aware of any "Book". Listen to a lot of Tower of Power, Earth Wind & Fire, Sly & the Family Stone. Even some Kool & the Gang for shots & hits etc..

For solos, listen to Maceo Parker & Fred Wesley to hear some of their signature licks.

Work on keeping your notes short & tight.

Practice your pentatonics and a lot of F#, F#minor E minor & major. Guitar player keys, in other words.

If you do find a book, lemme know about it

Eric,

You may want to search for midi files of funk tunes. You can load them into Finale or Sibelius and get them that way. Lifting is always good too.
