| Re: Giant Steps Check out trumpeter John Eckert on the CD "Lee Konitz Nonet". Freddie HUbbard wrote a composition based on the changes to "Giant Steps" entitled "Dear John"......check out his version on the CD entitled "Bolivia". |

![]() ![]() | Re: Giant Steps John Swana and Joe Magnarelli tear it up on a Criss Cross session together (with a nice Swana melody to boot). Ryan Kisor plays great on the Carnegie Hall Band CD. Claudio Roditi is awesome on his Jazz Turns Samba disc. There's a recording of Rotondi nailing it on a One For All Album Tim Hagans plays a solo on Jon Gordon's album "Ask Me now" that is worth transcribing every bit. Former Caruso Winner John Sneider also has a version on his debut album... I'm sure I have more but this is from the top of my head. Cheers, t |

Sort of... I have a set of three solo improvisations on YouTube and one of them is loosely based on Giant Steps: YouTube - 3 Solo Jazz Improvisations by Trent Austin I also have on my new website another "solo" version of Giant Steps: Welcome to www.trentaustin.com! I do love playing on this progression and have learned a lot from listening to as many versions as possible! Best, T | |
