I'm Starting a Jazz Combo, and I need HELP!!!

Hey. I'm new, and I think you guys can help me out. I'm starting a jazz combo with some of my friends, with the goal of making some sort of profit (besides the fun of it!). I need all the advice, information, etc. anyone can give me, especially gigging jazzers. Thanks!

That's a pretty open ended question. Get some lead sheets, rehearse, and then see if you can get some gigs. I'm sure you've got some slightly more specific questions.

DoubleC, where do you live, if you close to a H.O.B. , definetly see if they have an open mic. I've been to the one in chicago alot and when they did open mic nite, the place was packed. (Even a few big label scouts last time i went) but this was in 2003, sont know if they still have it
