Re: Jam with Sam

Wow, they're all great players, but how did Cat do that? And it looked like CT was circular breathing already. I thought that came later.

Cat was definitely a wonder. However people forget how great a player Clark Terry is. He is one of my all time favorites. Had a chance to play with him once when he gust soloed with a jazz ensemble I was in back around 76-77. Also one of the nicest people on the planet!

I agree about Clark. He is one of the best.

One thing people might not know is that other than high notes, Cat is a great soloist in the normal register. I have an album of a band he had that is part of the "jazz in paris" cd series. He plays maybe two notes above high C on the entire record. HIs plunger technique is great and the whole album swings it's butt off.

Good eyes there
Andre M, aka Fats Ford, played a rotary valved Sansone trumpet.

MAN, do I LOVE Clark Terry's playing! He was just fantastic there.

Andres just ripped it, too! What a band.

Everyone was roaring. The Cat man, though! Yikes! He makes it look, well, EASY! I'm going to favorite that clip!

Thanks for sharing.

Peace!
