Question Jazz Trumpet?

I saw in the classifieds that there is a Callet "Jazz Trumpet." I've seen this title used elsewhere and always wondered: What actually qualifies a trumpet to be a "Jazz Trumpet" Is there actually something significant that makes a difference, or is this just a marketing scheme?

Re: Jazz Trumpet?

It is the name of the horn. I have played one. It is a very light/bright horn.

Re: Jazz Trumpet?

It is supposed to be a great horn for jazz.

It is a step bore, or what Callet calls expandabore(?)

It starts out at a bore size of of .353, (yep .353) then opens to .450 at the tuning slide and a final bore of .470

Said to be conical like a cornet, with a nice dark sound.

The guy I know who has one really likes it.

Re: Jazz Trumpet?

I play a Callet Jazz and really like it. I do not care for the Callet mouthpiece, but I like the horns.

Horn has a big open sound. You can play it hard and bright or dark.

Re: Jazz Trumpet?

I've played these before. The multiple bores seem to work well with it. I personally thought it was a nice axe.
