![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Jim's one of the best trumpeters out there. He's got absolutely amazing time and improvisational ability. On top of that he's a really nice guy and good clinician. www.jimrotondi.com is his official website I think. Best, T

![]() | He is one laid-back CAT!!! He had played Fri and Sat...Sudays show was not really advertised so there was only about 15-20 people in the whole joint. Which made it a very personal and intimate setting. When my sister and I got there about 7:30 I recognised him sitting at the bar having a cup of coffee with pianist Bill Carrouthers (sp) who was having a Guiness..he was talking with a few people just chillin out. My sister and I had the opportunity to sit wherever we wanted. So right up front within arms length of his Selmer Concept. Evrything they played they had to ask eachother do you know this one or ok its in this time or lets do it in this key , he turned around and looked at me and my sister and said "dont worry will figure something out...just a quick rehersal"...everybody laughed...but when they started to play...it was tight it was right and it was outta sight!!! Like they had been playing together forever....I guess that is why they are the pros. When he would finish with his solos he would walk off the stage and sit on one of the tables and just chill while another took a solo.....Like Trent says his timing and improving is sensational!! After the first set they come back, Jim looks out at everyone and says, "well, its just us and the bar tonight so anything can happen." The second set was better than the first and long too!!! Then he says, "Will take a break and be right back." so its going on 12 am and a few people have left...actually me and my sister are the only ones there. I go up to the bar to get a couple drinks for us and Mr. Rotondi walks up and asks the btender for a glass of the dryest white wine they got..Ok, he is gonna have a glass of wine and chill out for a bit, do I let him relax or do me and my sister stay and have him play the third set just for us...nah.. let the man relax, he just blew his A%$ off!!! I shook his hand and told him excellent show he just said, "Thanks man" and took another sip of that extra dry white wine. ps. They never did do the third set...I heard the drummer say as we were leaving they could pack it up....I wonder if we would of sat it out if they would have played just for us...
