![]() | For those of you who had missed the live chat with Dave Douglas, you can now view the transcript: http://www.greenleafmusic.com/#/chat/davedouglas/ The topics are very interesting. Find out if his composition “Tim Bits” was named after a donut store in Canada or inspiration drawn from Tim Berne and Timbaland; what he looks for in reed players; the meaning of the word, “comschtick”; Dave’s trumpet advisor and guru, Laurie Frink; and his work with the program at the Banff Center.

![]() | Just saw this thread re: Dave Douglas. My friend Donny Mc Caslin is playing tenor with the quintet and he just smokes. I've known Donny since he was a kid (I sat in with his Dad's band) and I hired him as my Featured Artist at this year's Santa Cruz Jazz Festival. The guy can blow!!!! I happned to be in LA when Dave's quintet was at The Jazz Bakery so I spent the evening hanging. Really nice group of people and super musicians. If you have a chance go see them play. Dave's trumpet playing is first rate and Donny's tenor work will give you tons of new ideas for soloing.
