![]() | Looking for Jazz Festival Recommendations I would appreciate input from the members regarding Jazz Festival in North America that they really enjoy/have enjoyed in the past. A plane ticket is a plane ticket, so location isn't all that important. Bonuses would be a large make-up of trumpets or Big-Band artists. Doesn't have to be a large scale Monterey/Montreaux/Newport, etc... Nice small events are sought also. Thanks. |

![]() | I have been to the Playboy Jazzfest and the Newport Jazz Festival. Both were very good and I got to see a lot of great acts. I think that I would have to say that I enjoyed Newport a little more though. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The Newport fest is incredibly full of top notch artists and tons of music. The only complaint you might have with that fest is that there's TOO much music. Not a bad thing at all. Best, T

![]() ![]() | I've gone to the Syracuse Jazz Fest a few times. http://www.syracusejazzfest.com/ One year I saw Dr. John, the next I caught Wynton and the LCJO. The year I missed it Diana Krall was there. It's also free, which is always a plus. -Jimi

| Forte User | The Toronto Jazz Fest is usually good. THis years lineup is a bit weaker than the last few years, but still is going to be good. Bands include: Mingus Big band Dave Douglas (some klezmer quartet) John Mcleod Rex Hotel Jazz Orchestra (local guy who can play and arrange like no other. One of my favorite trumpet players.) |

| Pianissimo User | Another Toronto festival is the Beach's International Jazz Festival. Played there a few years ago, it was pretty cool. Big bands and small ensembles playing all over the area along the streets and on the mainstages. I think it's about 2-4 weeks after the Toronto Jazz Festival. Toronto is a pretty happenin' town, it might be cool if you can go to both festivals but that would be pretty pricey I imagine. Good times though!

![]() | Try the Clifford Brown Jazz Festival http://www.cliffordbrownjazzfest.com/ The Basie band is there this year. I'll be there with the Smithsonian Band. It looks like as much fun as you could have in Delaware. Joey |
