Maynard Ferguson music 1949 to 1956

Gentlemen,

We had several forums discussing Maynard Ferguson's capability. I couldn't quickly find those forums so I will post my best example of Maynard's creative greatness.

The CD is titled "Maynard Ferguson, WOW!"

It has 24 tracks, all recorded between 1949 and 1956. This is the CD where I thought Maynard could out bebob Dizzy.

I bought mine off of Amazon.com

The web site is www.sanctuaryclassics.com

The young people on the Trumpetmaster site need to buy this CD. This CD will put Maynard's career into context with his later recordings.

Wonderful!!! Thank you!!! I've gotten into this discussion so many times in my musical life, and have run into so many trumpet players that only know the outrageous high note showman Maynard, and I'm using the term outrageous in a good way. And I keep telling these guys that they need to hear Maynard's earlier years. One of my all time favorites is Maynard's solo on "Invention for Guitar and Trumpet" - Stan Kenton '52. Good god that's a great solo.

By the way, if you go to Amazon.com and look up Maynard you can find "Wow! The Formative Years" on there and you can listen to samples.
