| Fortissimo User | Re: Nice Derek Watkins video And, when PBS run their bi-annual fund-raising "specials" they sometimes put a couple of James Last concerts on. Derek is almost always featured (and no matter how "hokey" you might think James Last's music and stage presence is... those folk up there look like they're having FUN and the music really is worth listening to). I can remember my parents listening to his music back around the early 60's and he's still at it! Amazing longevity. |

![]() | Re: Nice Derek Watkins video Yes, the sad thing is that James Last had a bit of a reputation over here for being cheezy when in fact most of the time his music was perfectly normal swing. It was just some of the mantovani like swirling string arrangements that were a bit silly. Oh, and that was a good lesson on how to mike up a marimba!
