I wish in my wildest dreams that my jazz band was this good -- check the sax soloist who stands beside Wayne with a great amount of confidence in his playing.

They are not pros, but they sure are good!

Wow great stuff....

I can't believe some of the upper register stuff I head coming from the students playing trumpets.

What a group!

And I'm with you the sax soloist was neat to watch. Once he developes a little "looser" stage presence he'll really be fun.

Thanks for posting.

Wow, pretty cool. It's neat when kids can play well like that. I have a recording of Lincoln H.S. from East St. Louis made in the 80s. They were absolutely unreal.

Was that with Ron Carter before he went to NIU? That guy can teach.

I liked the guiro player too, on a cha cha like that it is an essential part and hard to do well, especially youngsters. Where is that school?

Listening to these recordings always makes me jealous of these kids and their school band programs! If only I could play like... 4th in a band like that!

From a little research, I believe the school is located in or near Stillwater, Minnesota.

It is not Lincoln H.S. from East St. Louis. Wynton is the patron saint of Lincoln High School in East St. Louis, Illinois. Wynton coaches Lincoln on a regular basis.
Lincoln has an ethnic heritage not represented in the video. Stillwater, yes.
