Post Players and Techinques

Hello, everyone.

I was wondering if you all could recommend some great jazz trumpet artists and
pieces that I could listen to? We all know that you can learn from the
examples of others.

I'm particularly interested in technique and improvisation, though these aren't
the only things that I'm interested in.

I am also looking for any warm-ups, excercises, etc. that I could drill down
that would also help me perform better; not necessarily for jazz, but in all
departments. Feel free to recommend to me your favorite exercises.

As to the warm up, etc., I would look for a good trumpet teacher. Because it's not so much what you do but how you do them. A good teacher will help you develop good playing habits, correct bad habits and develop you embouchure.

Dizzy Gillespie and Roy Eldridge "Roy and Diz"
Clark Terry and Oscar Peterson "Satch and Josh"
Clark Terry and Monk "In Orbit"
Doc Severensen with the Tonight Show Band Vol. I or II
Eric Miyashiro "City of Brass"
Carl Saunders with Phil Woods playing Henry Mancini music
Maynard Ferguson "Live at Jimmy's"
Ingrid Jensen "Here on Earth"
Arturo Sandval "Trumpet Evolution"
Alison Balsom "Bach"
Rafael Mendez "just about anything"

Harry "Sweets" Edison, he absolutley owns the changes and swings hard. You can almost hear Jazz going by when he is playing.
