Prado and Maynard

While checking some old Perez Prado recordings for the soloist on Cherry Pink I came across an interesting tidbit- Prado's 1956 album "Havana 3 a.m." had a a trumpeter in the section by the name of Maynard Ferguson!

I think its available on a German label.

Robert Rowe is on a distinguished road
Hey, Greg -- who was that guy on "Cherry Pink & Apple Blossom White" ? I had his name once, but lost it. Are there any other note-worthy tunes with that great "sizzle" on any Prado albums ?
That sound really caught my attention !

Regards,
Robert Rowe

Robert, There is an entire thread on the subject under HELP in this forum.
As near as I could tell Bill Regis did the original Prado date in '55, then Cerezo Rosa rerecorded it with him in '60 on a "Greatest Hits" type album, which I have. There's lots of screaming trumpets, sometimes preceded by Prado giving a shout-very dramatic.

If you're a Prado fan there is an combo album of "Havana 3 a.m." (which has Maynard and Ray Triscari in the trumpet section) and a Mambo recording combined with a 30 page booklet. I'll see if I can find it again on Lycos.
