![]() | In one of the videos it looks like he may be playing a Holton with what appears to be a Monette mouthpiece. He did play Holton in his earlier years, but I believe he didn't switch to monette horns until 1983. I have a picture of Wynton holding a classic monette standing next to Mr. Rogers from around that time I believe. ![]() |

| Forte User | Yeah- Caravan is really great. I love Marcus Roberts's and Tain's playing. They are amazing musicians who dialogue with Wynton so effectively and effortlessly (seemingly). That's a live version of what Wynton recorded on Standard Time Vol. 1, yes?

![]() | Sophar's in a position to know and he's right about the horn he described. It happened a LONG time ago, though. Amazing, however, isn't it? You steal Wynton Marsalis' horn, right? Who are you going to show it to? When will you ever get the chance to use an engraved Monette trumpet and not be noticed? It's like the Prana that was stolen at ITG a few years back. It all goes under the "Stupid Thefts" department. Who knows? Maybe it got carved up so someone could study it and figure out the "voodoo". But then, Dave's horns are all marketing and hype, therefore there's no reason to steal it to copy it, right? ML |
