Real Book Play-a-Long CD's

Hello everyone,

Has anyone tried the new Real Book Play-a-long CDs? If so how do they compare with the Aebersold play-a-longs.

It is a good $80 - $100 or so to get the collection (plus $25 for the Bb edition), so I was wondering if I could get some feedback before shelling out the cash...or should I just keep adding to my ever growing Aebersold collection?

Any feedback would be helpful!

I received, as a gift, the Real Book Playalong CD set for the Six Edition of the Bb Real Book (Hal Leonard - yellow cover). All of the songs in the book are not on the CD's, but there are a total of 240 songs on the CD's.

They are sold with 3 CD's in a pack. That 3 CD pack gives you 60 songs for a price of $20. If you are concerned about the cost, then you might buy just one $20 pack and see how you like them before you buy the complete set.

Thanks for the info. It seems like you get a lot for the money. I'm not so worried about cost - I'm used to Aebersold play-a-longs, and I was wondering how good the Real Book CDs were vs Aebersold products.

jonterman, I also have some of the Aebersold playalongs. The Real Book playalongs and the Aebersold playalongs are both great. I think you will enjoy the Real Book CD's, if you decide to get them.

Thanks for the info, it seems like you get a lot more for your money with the Real Book CDs. So, hmm, which set do I start with...I'll let you know what I end up with. Thanks for your input.
