Ron!

Ron is one of my favorites! I also get to play with him frequently, and I could not recommend seeing him more strongly. He is one of the true underrated masters.
I will most likely be there. Will is terrific too. We played a gig about two months ago. What a privilege!

hey Trom J,

I'll see you there! Have you heard Ron's new disc "Everything In A Dream"? It's a must have. He is also on Will Holshouser's new one, "Singing To a Bee," which was recorded live in Faro, Portugal - absolutely beautiful, compelling music. I'm sure you are familiar having played with Will.

Cheers,
Spitty

I nevr played Wills original stuff. We only got to work together once, and it was mostly Klezmer and a little standard Jazz. I did ot hear Ron's new one, and having just got back from a gig with him, I will have to give him hell for not letting me know about it. Ron is very modest and self effacing, and does not always realize how his playing is perceived.

Hey guys, please send my warmest regards to Ron. he is one of my favourite improvising trumpet players, a fantastic musician and a very warm and humble human being.

I had the pleasure of playing with Ron on a couple of tours with Andrew Hill's Anglo American big band a couple of years ago when Ron was Andrews MD - a very demanding task. He played brilliantly and lead the band with great sensitivity for the music and his respect for and quiet encouragement to the memebers of the band helped to produce some truly memorable performances.

All the best. Noel Langley.

Ok, I got my new Ron Horton CD, and as I imagined it is lovely. Real deep, affecting playing.
I worked with Ron on 9/11, and he had very nice things to say about Noel as well. It's funny, sometimes musicians personalities are reflected in their playing. One of the things about Ron that is amazing is that when we play gigs, if there are opportunities for Jazz playing, he never insists on his perogative to assume the solo chair, but instead offers support and encouragement to anyone who solos, even when (like myself) they aren't really in the same league. A great guy!

Ron Horton rocks!

Ron Horton's playing last night was incredibly beautiful!!! No two ways about it, this great person/great artist is one of the baddest players around - he certainly possesses the prettiest tone I have heard, and some of the most original, creative ideas being played by the many fine trumpet players out here doing there thing.

Hats off to Ron Horton!

I'm sure that TromJ can add his thoughts on Ron as well. Good meeting you there buddy!

Ciao,
Spitty
