Pick up Bill Chase's albums. There are three I believe. He was a screamer extraordinaire. Top class playing on all the albums.

Re: Screaming Jazz Bands

We'll as far as today's era goes, the best in the business is the Harry Connick Jr. big band. He's got Roger Ingram on lead and some other guys that do some incredible stuff. The whole band for that matter is over the top. No one comes close to them IMO. If you want just screaming and nothing else that might be difficult to find. You can easily find 3-4 songs on one album that are screamers but I don't think the whole album. I would look at Maynard and Arturo. They have put out together over a dozen if not more huge albums that have major screaming on them.

Re: Screaming Jazz Bands

Maynard can always be referred to when talking about screaming (or anything else for that matter), but I think James Morrison is a fantastic trumpet player. If you want to order one of his CDs from Australia, it will be well worth it. They are just great CDs and he plays great music. He also plays many different instruments. Check him out-

Gordon Goodwins Big Phat Band is pretty awesome. It has Wayne Bergeron on lead. Also, a great CD to get it is an album entitled, "Things to Come" by the Dizzy Gillespi Alumni All-Star Big Band. It has lots of screamin' in it.
