Ska?

As you may or may not have noticed, I am slightly obsessed with listening to and playing ska music. I listen to mostly 2nd and 3rd wave ska, but I do like 1st wave. I constantly hear that ska is dead and I was wondering if anyone around here listens to it or plays ska. Or have you never even hear of it? haha Thanks!

-Nikki

John P has a spectacular aura about
I already replied to your original post, but I'll chime in here too. It bugs the heck outta me when people say that ska is dead when there are so many incredible bands out there that are touring actively. It may not be as popular as it used to be, but there's definitely a following, especially in the high school/college ages.

I play very little ska but I listen to it all the time. Some stuff I listen to: Reel Big Fish, Less than Jake, Mad Caddies, Streetlight Manifesto, Suburban Legends, old No Doubt, Catch 22, Big D and the Kids Table...and pretty much anything else.

The voodoo glow skulls are AWESOME!!!! I really like reel big fish and a few others. I play a couple of RBF arrangements in my rock band, good fun and always go down well with the crowd!!

I saw Voodoo Glow Skulls in CT with Big D and Westbound Train and Suburban Legends! Amazing!

I also love the Tosters. Those of you who play ska, any tips on writing kick butt horn lines? And solos?
