Something a little different...

Folks,

Online Music Distributors (OMD's) like the now defunct Mp3.com or the now somewhat stagnant Ampcast.com force us cyber-musicians into periodically re-evaluting things. I am at this point again. Ampcast has undergone consider re-structuring. In the process I have experienced server outtages at their end and a serious loss of exposure to the non-trumpeting crowd. While I relish your support, I need to reach out still further.

I am exploring a new site called MP3unsigned. I have not shut down my Ampcast page as I have a small following. However, I will be cycling my tunes through the new site on a daily basis. I will be making all of my music available for free-downloading for a little while on this new site, to offer some reason for visiting. The three tunes there now will be purged and replaced by this evening, so check it out.

Here's the url...

http://www.MP3unsigned.com/NickDrozdoff.ASP

I welcome listeners and ratings, of course.

Thanks for your support.

Peace, all.

Really nice stuff. I took advantage of the downloads! Thanks! Did you play with Maynard when Alan Wise was with him? I went to HS with Alan.

Yup!

Yes, Alan was on the MFO when I was. He even roomed with me at one point.

Alan's first real trumpet teacher, Gil Garcia, was my instructor in Loveland, Colorado. Alan's mom used to work at the county license bureau and every time I would come in to get my license or plates renewed she would give me an update on Alan and how things were going on the road. I went with Alan to a Maynard concert in HS, but unfortunately, I never heard him play when he was with Maynard. I was in graduate school and a bit "busy."

Anyhow, small world. I can say this, when Alan was a senior, we had a HS band (both concert and jazz) that was almost beyond compare. Gil Garcia was a great inspiration and there was a lot of talent (many, many of the band members majored in music later, including myself).

Thanks for the reply and the free downloads!

Nice to hear of Alan's beginnings...

Thanks for sharing those thoughts about Alan's early experiences.

I think I have some pictures of him floating around on an old web site.

http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/Strasse/3698

I think that's the url. While my blog (http://nickdrozdoff.blogspot.com) has far more details about my MF experience, I have some pics at the old Geocities site, I think.

If not, I'll post another url.
