| Forte User | Time Modulations Alright, so I get into this discussion with a few of my friends today. These guys have been fooling around with Giant Steps (number 1 jazz nerd's piece, I know), taking the time signature into off-feels. By this I mean a 7/8. Cutting that last beat in half. Sounds VERY cool. So, I suggest taking a 9/8 time signature, with a feel like 2-2-2-3. Essentially, hesitating a bit on that last beat. ....And THAT sounds cool too. SO... Give me some classics that seem to be begging for some fooling-around time-wise. I know I could always look in a fake book, but heck, I felt like starting some discussion. Van |
