Can anyone tell if it's possible to reach high registers with a #3 Bach mouthpiece or a 3B. Im planning to switch.

I think you can reach high register using any mp , it's all depends YOU ! it will be harder using a deeper mp, but it's not impossible .
btw, why don't you switch to a 3C ?

Welcome to TM, davidcu!

The depth of a mouthpiece won't affect range, really, but will have an effect on the sound quality. If you are planning on playing lead trumpet on it, a 3 wouldn't be as good an idea as a 3c.

Good luck!

Re: #3 Bach Mouthpiece

It depends on how you achieve your range (compression/air/pressure/lip intrusion/pucker vs. thinning/tongue arch etc.). I do better in that regard on my 3 no letter than my 3c. My 3 used to be my fave for all uses for both trumpet and cornet.

Re: #3 Bach Mouthpiece

For me, I own a high F on anything with a Bach 3, 5, or 6 rim, any cup from "no letter" to D. It's just much easier on the shallower cups.

Re: #3 Bach Mouthpiece

I was thinking of a 3C, but the description seems beeter for a 3 or 3B. I still need to go try them at a store.

Re: #3 Bach Mouthpiece

When players tell me what they are currently playing the Bach 3C (or similar mouthpiece) is named more than any other size, and for good reason. It is mid sized, medium depth, and is very versatile. Try before you buy though, or buy from a vendor that offers a money back guarantee if it does not suit you.

Cheers,
Dave
