![]() | Bach Mpc w/ Schilke Trpt? I was wondering if anyone has every used a Bach mouthpiece with a Schilke Trpt. for any of their setups. I don't know if Schilke trumpets were designed to play with a Schilke mouthpiece in order to provide optimum sound or not. A Schilke S-32 seems like an awesome horn, but I'm afraid that if I use my Bach 1.5 C Mouthpiece, then there will be too much of a gap between the mouthpiece and the leadpipe which might change the sound or something along those lines. Currently, my Bach 1.5 Mouthpiece isn't too much of a problem since I use it for all my playing from symphony to Jazz Band. Only thing is that my band director think I'm still playing a little too bright at times. I'm also tending to be a little sharp (something that still happened when I used a 7C), but is that more of an embouchure problem? Also, does gold plating and silver plating on a mouthpiece make too much of a difference besides appearance?

Long and short of that - it doesn't matter for most brands. Some horns (*cough monette cough*) need their piece in order to play properly but Schilke isn't one of them Gold plating vs. silver doesn't make a difference in sound, how it feels to you yes, but not sound.
