![]() | I wish to "darken" the sound on the A side of my Schilke P5-4 Piccolo trumpet a little more to achieve a more satisfactory "blend" when playing in wind ensembles. Several Blackburn Lead pipe statements on the internet suggest their product will do just that. Has anyone had experience with this product on the Schilke P5-4 Picc.? What has been your experience? In your experience, how does this product achieve the results advertised? Thanks, Jack C. |

![]() | Re: Blackurn Leadpipe for Schilke P5-4?? I had one of those for my Schilike pic. I guess it did what you said it should, but for me it made the horn play too big and the sound lacked any life. I eventually went back to the normal Schilke pipe. Some people get too squeaky on the Schilke pic, so maybe the Blackburn pipe could offset that a little, but since that wasn't a problem for me, the Blackburn pipe wasn't a good fit. I will say that it was a fine product and the Blackburn folks were very helpful on the phone and even sent me two to try for a couple weeks.

You get blend with an elegant style and sensitive approach to being heard. Many players think that hardware solves problems. It doesn't. Blending is an attitude. You need to WANT to sync with the section.
