Bucket mute for large bell monettes

My main B-flat right now is a Monette B997. It's the most fun B-flat I've ever played, but there's one problem: the bell is too big for my (red and white) bucket mute. Does anybody know if H & B makes a larger one? The JoRal buckets just don't have that "red and white" sound...

Thanks,
Jimi

Re: Bucket mute for large bell monettes

Hi,

H&B make a larger size bucket to fit those big Connstellation bells so maybe that will work better for your Monette.

Cheers,

Brian

Re: Bucket mute for large bell monettes

I just had Kevin make me a custom EaZy bucket mute for my Prana 3. You can go to his website at www.eazybucket.com. They're a bit pricy, but they have an incredibly good sound. You'll have to e-mail him and let him know that it's for a Monette bell. He had to do mine several times because it was the first time he made one for that size bell. You won't be dissapointed.

But, one last thing - he seems like a busy guy, so you may want to ask him how long it's going to take if you're in a hurry.

The Jo Ral bucket doesn't clip on, it goes in like any other mute.

Re: Bucket mute for large bell monettes

Walt Johnson makes a bucket mute that goes in the end of the bell, Charley Davis did, but I don't know if you can still get them. There are several brands that do that instead of clipping on the outside.

Re: Bucket mute for large bell monettes

I'm using the Jo-Ral on my 993 and put extra felt in it. With a Flumpet cup and the mute it's really a GREAT sound.

Re: Bucket mute for large bell monettes

The Jo Ral bucket is the way to go if you have a large bell. The clips on the "red & white" bucket can really mess up a large bell with gold plating.

Re: Bucket mute for large bell monettes

EZBucket for sure. They have the best sound, they're lightweight, easy clip-on design.

Be sure to try their bucket mute for piccolo trumpet.
