![]() | buzzing some students are thought to buzz first without the trumpet and mouthpiece. it seems to work. they say that they use zero pressure when playing the trumpet, especially in the high registers. can anyone explain the buzzing embouchure? how it works? ways to practice it? ![]() | Re: the buzzing embouchure By the "buzzing embrochure" I'm sure you just mean buzzing in general?!? Just simply buzzing on the mouthpiece as if the trumpet were there is how many warm up. It doesn't give us range, just used as a warm up. I personally wouldn't exceed 10-15 minutes of buzzing, just doesn't help after that, wastes practice time. Zero pressure brings you back to your other thread: http://www.trumpetmaster.com/vb/f134...ure-47652.html (zero pressure) Just my 2 cents though!

![]() | Re: the buzzing embouchure buzzing with out the mouthpiece teaches the student that the lips have to be stretched and tight. This is wrong and will not produce a good relaxed embouchure |

| Forte User | Re: the buzzing embouchure Basically, it is used in two ways. First, to help establish an aural skill and muscular recognition (though it must be stated that one does not buzz and play the horn the same way due to mouthpiece configuration, sealing of the chops, etc) of the embouchure. Secondly, to help "loosen" or even "work out" the facial muscules as the buzzing action helps in the flow of blood to the mucus membrances of the lip structure.... I can't think of anything else it would help. Everyone has different tools in their toolbox to help them acheive playing profiencently. (For instance, I use a straw and pinwheel attached to the horn durng practice sessions to help with air flow, etc.) One size, does not fit all.
