![]() | C.G. Conn Elkhart Con-Querer Hello, I am new to this site and have two questions if anyone might help: I just procured an old Elhart Conn-Querer and it does not have a mouthpiece. My conventional mouthpiece does not fit. Does anyone know where one could be found that would fit? Where can the serial number be found on this piece. I believe it is a 1930 instrument. It is a B/C coronet, silver and has alot of wear. Thank you in advance for any info that you might be able to give. |

![]() | Re: C.G. Conn Elkhart Con-Querer Thank you and you are right. Someone lent me their coronet mouthpiece and it fit. I just purchased it off a website and I think it may be NOW a 1900-1902 unserialized CG Conn-querer horn after searching though the website you suggested. It actually did play and has a neat valve that you can turn to change key. I looks awful rough though. Question now: is there a reputable place (that will not require a new house mortgage) to send to that will restore this instrument? I live in Washington state. Any recommendations? This coronet is really cool looking and has a good sound. One of the band players eyes dilated Last edited by Babydoo; 10-09-2009 at 11:49 AM. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: C.G. Conn Elkhart Con-Querer First - it is a cornet, not a coronet. The latter is a crown or a Dodge car. It is possible your Conn is what is called a low-pitch horn, which means it was designed when the conventional tuning for A was not 440 hz but less.. It that is the case restoration will not make it playable with other current instruments in an ensemble. You may be able to tune the A side high enough to use it as an A horn, but you will not be able to shorten the horn with the tuning slide to use it in Bb. veery |
