![]() | Re: Case Alternatives? Hello all, I agree, youd be well served to leave the horn readily accessible to yourself to pick up and practice. I'd personally rather spend some $ on a nice case that I could use to transport the horn as well as store it instead of taking any kind of risk. Cheers

![]() | Re: Case Alternatives? A coat hook will work. Hang it from the crook of the bell. Maybe add a little padding, but it works just fine.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Case Alternatives? Keeping the horn in its original case is safer than leaving it laying around. I had a trumpet teacher that said the horn did not dry out as fast when it was kept in the case between gigs. That made it easier to play. I know that my horns that are "bone dry" from not having been played for a while (my Bach 229H C for instance, it gets used only 2 or 3 times a year) are not as easy to play as when they are moist inside.

![]() | Re: Case Alternatives? I've got kids and a dog, so mine always go back in a case. Pro-tec and gator make some fairly inexpensive cases. I just checked Woodwind & Brasswind – Orchestral and Student Instruments: Violins, Cellos, Trumpets, Flutes, Clarinets and they've got the "GIG" brand cases (look like a school backpack, but are trumpet cases) on sale for $20. Buy one of these and hang it on a hook. There were a number of options for minimal protection under $40.

![]() | Re: Case Alternatives? If you don't want to place your trumpet in a case, I would at least keep in in a "sock" that will keep polutants in the air from settling on the finish. The top drawer in a chest of drawers filled with an assortment of cloth items.
