Re: Cat Anderson Mouthpiece

I played one of those copies once...I'm not sure who it belonged to, a friend of a friend borrowed it from someone. I could play some high notes, but I doubt I could ever really use it, I'm sure no Cat Anderson! The wide rim actually made it feel (to my chops, at least) not as small as it really is. Pretty cool...even if it's not for me!

Re: Cat Anderson Mouthpiece

Right now I play on a Monette BL6 which is the shallowest I have ever played one. Shallower than the Shilke 6A4A that I also played for a while. This mouthpiece, compared to the Shilke looks like a piece of sheet metal with a hole in it. Most of the reviews I read about it people are saying that it is unplayable within and below the staff but I still want to try it.

Re: Cat Anderson Mouthpiece

Contact Bob Reeves-he may have a copy of Cat's piece. This was discussed on the MF forum a couple of weeks ago. Paul Cacia also has info on Cat and his equipment and his studies with Cat on his site, Welcome to the Paul Cacia Official Website.

All the best,

Re: Cat Anderson Mouthpiece

In my mouthpiece junk box I have a rather vintage Holton Revelation #63 that looks to me to be a very similar piece. I hate it!!!!!! It came on a used horn in my 'accumilation' or I would not have it. I would certainly not spend money on such a thing.
