![]() | Re: cornet mouthpeice Hey, reedy...the Schilke 9C4 is likely to be a long-shank cornet mouthpiece. Since you are using a short-shank Wick 2B, there may be issues with the mouthpiece not fitting your cornet properly. Even if it does fit, the 9C4 is going to sound much brighter and trumpet-like compared to the 2B. I play a Schilke 8E2, and it's just barely deep enough to deliver a proper cornet tone.

![]() | Re: cornet mouthpeice I'm looking at the Wick charts and only see a 4C for trumpet, not cornet. The only affordable alternative to a short-shank Denis Wick that I'm aware of are the Yamaha short-shank cornet mouthpieces. You might want to give the 13E4 model a try. This would give you a cornet mouthpiece that comes close in terms of diameter and rim contour to your trumpet's 14A4a, if you're looking for something that feels familiar to your embouchure. If that doesn't matter to you, you might as well stick with your current Denis Wick model. You can't be lazy when using a true cornet mouthpiece on a good cornet. You'll only attain endurance and range by diligent, sensible practice--the mouthpiece isn't going to "help" you.

I have a Vacchiano 5D for trumpet--sold to me by my teacher, who also plays and recommends the Vacchiano--and it is stunningly well made. It's well worth anyone's consideration.

![]() | Re: cornet mouthpeice I have a Holton cornet and a 14A4a fits(I never tried 14a4a on it) If the shank is bigger than normal shouldn't a trumpet Mp fit? If not maybe use an adapter. I'm a bit confused.
