| Which Curry? Being in the UK I do not have access to any Curry dealers (unless someone can tell me differently). I am in the position of having to replace my gear as it was stolen recently. I have been playing a Bach 7C for some years. I have been reading the threads here and am interested in trying Curry mouthpieces. I find the Curry website a little confusing. I presume that the standard Curry 7C is pretty much a direct replacement. Is that correct? The TF looks interesting for me. Looking at the Curry website there seem to be TF mouthpieces in both the standard and 600 series pages. Can anyone explain the difference to me? Should I be looking at the Standard 7TF and the 600 50TF? What is the significance of the number 50 in the 600 series? |

| Re: Which Curry? Mark makes the best "Bach" mouthpieces around, IMO. The standard models are, for the most part, direct copies of older Bach mouthpieces made when the Bach shop was in Mt. Vernon, NY. Mark has made some minor changes, e.g. the rim on his current 3C has changed from the rim he originally used. His 7C is basically the same as a Mt. Vernon 7C - NOT an Elkhart 7C. (You can go to Kanstul's web site and use their mouthpiece comparator to see the differences between the two). The 600 series is Mark's own design. The rim countour is not as "sharp" as the standard models. The 600 series was originally a shallower cup design more for commercial/cross-over playing, but he also uses the rim design for flugelhorn pieces as well. I'm not familiar with the TF or TC pieces. The "50" in the number refers to the rim inner diameter. The model 50 in the 600 series has an inner rim diameter of 0.650". Regards, Bob Eye Dallas, TX |
