| Deciding on a new mouthpiece. Now, I have a 1(1/2)C, 3C, and an 11B4 sized mouthpiece, and they all work pretty well for me. But recently I've been wondering what would be best if I wanted to play ska/jazz? Also: Should there be any major difference with airflow and embrochure when wanting to play different styles? |

| Mezzo Forte User | Re: Deciding on a new mouthpiece. I don't think that for ska you may need another mouthpiece, especially if the one you have got work well for you. Depending on the horn you can have a lighter one for the ska to get more edge, though you can probably achieve it with the one you already have (I have no adiea what horn do you use). But if your present mouthpiece works well, I don't see a reason to bother about |

Body use, breathing skills and embouchure are universal. If your playing is together, you do not need to change anything! |

| First off, I'd like to start by say.... yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah ska rocks wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot party etc. etc. Second I'd like to mention that maybe if you practise more with your current mouthpiece it may be just fine. Mant times the mouthpeice isnt the answer, but the experience with the mouthpeice. Third, if you're getting one, it beats me.... those two are proabably the best so far that I know of... I still can't decide if it's time for a new mouthpiece or work with my old one... |

| Re: Deciding on a new mouthpiece. Do you find ska rocks between the rock and the hard place? Or are they found down by Stoney End? Do ska rocks roll? I'll stop now, I promise. Bob |

| Re: Deciding on a new mouthpiece. Ska halfway evolved from Punk, which in itself evolved from Rock & Roll, so whatever that means, I do not know. Anyways, I'd have to answer with the last answer you're looking for, but undoubtedly you're going to find a mouthpiece amongst them, and it may not be the 11B4, that sits just right with the music you're playing. That's the mouthpiece I'd use if I were you. Heck, I use a mouthpiece the size of a gopher hole for a jazz funk group I play with. Not saying that you have to use that mouthpiece, but just saying the answer might not be that obvious. |
