| Denis Wick Mouthpieces - Cornet Hi, I use Denis Wick 4, 4b, and 4b heavytop and enjoy using them. Anyone have experience with DW 2, 2b, 3, 3b and what one can be expected to sound like playing 2nd/third parts or solos in lower register? Intrigued right now. Best wishes! lloyd lmf |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Denis Wick Mouthpieces - Cornet Playing second involves getting rid of your own ego and using equipment that makes the first player sound better! The first issue is that the new piece FEELS good, then come the playability issues. The DW2 is a pretty big mouthpiece and I found the rim sharper than the 3 series. The 2 has a really fat sound but needs tons of air (like most big mouthpieces). If you have any breathing issues, the upper register will easily go flat. What is wrong with your army of DW4s? |

| Re: Denis Wick Mouthpieces - Cornet Hi, Rowuk, I like the DW 4 series very much. I was only intrigued as to what the others do by someone who could clearly explain the differences? You have done that in a knowledgable manner which I do appreciate very much. Thank you! Best Wishes! Lloyd lmf |

| Re: Denis Wick Mouthpieces - Cornet The 3 rim is a bit like Bach 1 1/4 C the 2 is similar in diameter to a 1 1/2 C but flatter. I used a 2 when I played solo cornet in a Brass band. Eventually I switched to a 2B. The description in the Wick leaflet is misleading as the 2 is not really designed for 2nd cornet players, its just a bigger mouthpiece. They also do a 1 now which is supposed to be more like a Bach 1 rim for trumpet players who have to switch. |
