| New Friend | GR... Worth the Money??? So, I have heard from a lot of my peers that GR mouthpieces are the best to play on... especially if you let the company watch you play and evaluate you. I dont know if I would go this far, but they have an equivilent mouthpiece to the one I am playing on now. they sound legit, but I dont want to rush into anytihng i am going to be spending $165 on... I have also played on my friend's GR, though it doesnt fit my lips, just feeling it sit on my lips, it was VERY comfortable. any thoughts?? |

| Fortissimo User | Why not just fill out the application form and spend some time (online or otherwise) with a GR rep and see how you feel about them after that? I'm happy with my GR and haven't felt the need to search for anything else in the two years I've played on it. |

| Pianissimo User | Go to the GR website and fill out the mouthpiece questionnaire. That will help you narrow your choices. You can also buy used ones to try out. If one doesn't work for you, you can always sell it and try something else. |

| Fortissimo User | Depending upon where you live you might just be pretty close to a GR dealer. Bruce Lee (Northernbrass.com) has just moved to Texas and he's the guy who fixed me up. He wanted to know what my experience was... what I was using at the time... what I didn't like about what I was using.... what improvements I wanted the change bring, etc. We went through my whole mouthpiece "history" (as much as I could remember) and so forth. To be fair, I think any of the GR dealers can help you out with some of that stuff... probably moreso than one of the "Big" retailers who simply sell whatever you ask for. |

| I have played GR mouthpieces for about 4 years now. You can fill out the app and they will get in touch with you. When I bought my first one, Gary was still accessible. Not so now. You can also try to speak with Brian Scriver. If you email him he will return your email quickly and he will speak with on the phone if you would prefere. They are very easy to speak with, ask you a lot of questions, and LISTEN to you before they make a recommendation. When I bought my Lawler C7, it was a bit darker in sound than my Schilke B6. I spoke with Brian about changing to a slightly smaller mouthpiece and he advised against it. He said he would make my same mouthpiece with their new T-72 backbore. It was perfect and my C7 is just as bright as my B6 was. ![]() I highly recommend checking them out on your search for the right mouthpiece. -cw- |

| I bought 2 GR mouthpieces ( one 2nd hand) - a 67C* and 67M. the rationale behind this choice was that the cup width was meant to match my Bach 1.5C, but I was looking for someting darker (in the 67C*, and easier in the high range for the 67M). They were also both recommended by Brian when I filled out the questionnaire. I have now sold them both on - not because they were bad mouthpieces, its just that they just didn't give me what i was looking for. Trouble is that there are no UK dealers (to my knowledge) with a full range to try, which I think is essential. I'd like to look at more of the range, but from where I am its an expensive business. Whilst i think the questionnaire and other support is excellent, it never substitutes for a real trial. |

| Agree, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be the best for you....I have a Glazer 66M (artist model) and like it a lot, but I also have a Roditi-Dillon 1 1/4 I adore......and I usually play smaller pieces and never imagined that the Roditi could work so well for me....this mouthpiece thing is indeed a "dark art" |
