| New Friend | HELP with mp for Olds Recording Cornet Hi, I recently bought an Olds Recording Cornet (1954). The sound is phenomenal, but the mouthpiece doesn't feel quite right for my playing (Conn 7C that came with it). I tried a few of my other mp's but all seemed smaller. So, this must have a larger bore. My questions: 1. Does anyone know what size bore it is? (I don't think it's been modified from the original) 2. Can anyone recommend an mp for it? I know it's a matter of personal fit, taste, experience and the like, but I'd appreciate a few recommendations to consider. thanks!! Jack |

Nice horn by the way, best bargain out there for what you get IMHO

![]() | Re: HELP with mp for Olds Recording Cornet Hi, Your mouthpiece receiver is likely built to take the Olds large shank mouthpieces. Check out Mark Curry's site as he has a shank size specifically for your vintage. As for the cup, the DC works well for all around playing or you could go deeper if you are looking for a really brass band type of sound. My $.02 Cheers, Brian
