![]() | HELP!!! Trpt Mps My recent mouthpeice has been torchered (and is looking crappy), by me since the 6th grade and im buying a new one a Curry (or possibly a yamaha gp heavyweight 14c4 or maybe a 14a4a) . ive had a bach 5c (gld) now im a sophmore in the local high school band and want to explore with different mps. I want to try something other than a 5c,7c and a mp that would work part time for marching and concert...i play a bach tr200 i think (almost the same as a bach omega without the omega engraving) its like a strad for intermideate peoples, im open to any suggestions thanks if you do reply.... I look at music123.com and wwbw.com for mouthpieces and stuff i need i would go with mouthpieceexpress but there prices are not in my budget (p.s i was a newbie and still am here) Last edited by trpteddrumaner12; 07-05-2009 at 03:40 AM. |

![]() | Re: HELP!!! Trpt Mps Everyone is different. So it's hard to say online what mouthpiece might be good for you. Is there something about your Bach 5C you don't like? Is there something you're trying to change that you feel a new mouthpiece might help with? |

![]() | Re: HELP!!! Trpt Mps First: A banged up tarnished like gold plated mp doest look good on a silver trumpet. Second ive heard that curry mouthpieces are far better than bach. Third: i would like to hit high notes easier then with my 5c bach. Its just that time for me to purchase a new mouth piece and i havent played on a 3c or a 1 1/2 c (kelly mouthpieces dont really count for there brighter pitch) so i was looking for opinions on diferent cup sizes b/c i dont really know. theres just so many cup sizes out there! but if i dont know im going to go with a 3c. thanks to all Last edited by trpteddrumaner12; 07-05-2009 at 03:41 AM. |

![]() | Re: HELP!!! Trpt Mps Now i keep debating on wheter or not to get curry or the other brand king.....the whole thing is balanced and people seem to like it, but people also like Curry. I cant make up my mind! on WWBW Curry and King cbk are the same price for right now. But then i see that curry has a sleeve you can put on and it would make it like a bach megatone with a deeper tone. MTV please Pimp my mouthpiece Last edited by trpteddrumaner12; 07-05-2009 at 03:42 AM. |

![]() ![]() | Re: HELP!!! Trpt Mps Try the Bach 3C, if you want a tone intensifier there are a few after market brands you can purchase . Bach B cups are deeper than their C cups so they favor a darker tone. |

![]() | Re: HELP!!! Trpt Mps The only reason a new mouthpiece should allow you to hit higher notes is if it suits you better! there are no magic bullets (mouthpieces). Gold vs. silver mouthpieces are generally a function of feel (and maybe cost/allergies), people don't worry about what you like if you sound good, and they don't if you sound bad either Curry is a good maker, very similar to bach, but perhaps a little higher quality. Before you switch to a new mouthpiece: what is wrong with your curry one: Does the rim feel uncomfortable? Do you feel it is too wide and want to play on a smaller (feel yourself swimming in it)? Does it feel too small and constricting? Are you striving for a brighter sound or darker sound? Do you want a sharper attack (at the price of some flexibility)? or do you want more flexibility? Does the rim feel too narrow (itself, not its inner diameter)? Too wide? If none of these are a problem, I'd suggest if your mouthpiece is getting worn, just getting a new one in the same size (bach, curry, laskey and others all offer roughly the same size as your current mouthpiece).

| Forte User | Re: HELP!!! Trpt Mps High notes are EARNED with diligent and intelligent PRACTICE, not bought. A different mouthpiece may help you achieve a different sound, add some comfort to your playing but it is very unlikely to add to your register. Before going on a mp safari you must have a very clear idea what you want to achieve soundwise and how to do it - gear is not an ultimate answer - the ultimate answer lays between your ears.

![]() | Re: HELP!!! Trpt Mps I may get a Curry 3c for general use and also get a monster sleeve, then i may get a schilke 14a4a (for lead playing and use for marching band), or 15a4 or a 13c4 (like a 5c) Last edited by trpteddrumaner12; 07-04-2009 at 12:00 AM. |
