Re: I made all state and need a new mouthpiece

What are you hoping to change??? Have you played the B6? Have you tried the B4 as well?

Not trying to discourage you, but make you think about and consider your choice carefully if you have not. That is quite a chunk of change for a mouthpiece to not try a few if you can manage to...

Congratulations on your accomplishments by the way, Way to GO!!!

Re: I made all state and need a new mouthpiece

This store is Monette dealer in Florida. If it's near you, I'd recommend trying out Monette mpcs before layout down the cash. Thompson music in Nebraska may send them out on approval, but I don't know for sure. You can also call the Monette shop (503)255-5552 and they can help you decided what size might be right for you.

Re: I made all state and need a new mouthpiece

I for one (and there are a number of others here on TM, I think ROWUK is one) have successfully transitioned to the Monette B6 from a 3C - but it's not for the faint hearted, and it is hard work (for me).

It will only work if you somehow learn to RELAX - something I'm still struggling with eighteen months down the track with my B6, but I DO NOT want to go back to the 3C even though it too, was a major positive step in the right direction.

I hope you have the success that I am gradually getting with my B6.

Something is wrong if it's been 18 months and it's not working. It should be easier. Can you describe what's happening?

So lets see if I understand what your saying, you out played and sounded better than most of the other trumpet players in your age group ,in the entire state of Florida ,so you want to change equipment to accomplish what? A Bach 3C didn't hurt Charley Davis or Arturo Sandoval.

GREAT! Congratulations! Now for one of my big rules, "Never change anything for a show!" Stick with what got you to State and if you want to change after, go for it.
