| Mezzo Piano User | I want a nice Flugel MP .... I would like a Flugel MP for my Yamaha 700 series Flugel. I'd like a Bach modern 3C rim and a decent depth (something similar to the 14F4 Yammy piece). Any ideas on who or where to best acquire this would be a BIG help. As always, thank you, Dames and Gentlemen, |

| I have a Yamaha 635st flugel and couldn't find a decent mouthpiece for a while. I had been playing on a Bach 1.5FL and it just didn't sound all that great. Then, I learned about the different shanks in flugels and found a Curry 1FL with the correct shank. I was amazed at, both, how much better it sounded and how much easier it was to play. So, take a look at the Curry's, the Bach will not have the correct shank for your flugel. Look at their 3FL or 60FL as a similar size to a Bach 3C. |

| Mezzo Piano User | Yea, I know bout the shank tapers. That's why I've been palying the Yammy pieces. I really want a Bach 3C rim though so I' ll be looking for someone to make me a piece. I will check out the Curry stuff. Thanks, |

| If you want a big sound, check out Flip Oakes' mouthpieces. His flugel piece #3 has the same rim as a Curry 3, but the FO's cup is deeper and the throat is larger. Flip offers all three shank types as well. |

| The Warburton 4FL is a lovely flugel mouthpiece - the 4 rim is similar to the Bach 3 rim. The GR 3FD is also good (this is what I play but I wish I had gone for the Warburton instead) it is based on a 1970's Bach 3C rim, and is a good deep funnel shape. The GR 3FL is too shallow for a flugel mouthpiece in my opinion. Graham |
