Jet tone MPs

I play a Bach 1.5 C and like it. except I find sometimes when marching a shallow cup gives me more endurance on high notes when I play lead... I was wondering what is the difference between a vintage MF and a normal MF by Jet tone? I don't really plan to use this very much, but thought It might help when marching and I need a little more upper projection. What are your thoughts between a Bach 5E or 3E vs the MF ?
Thanks

Re: Jet tone MPs

The Jet Tone MF mouthpiece does not have a cup.

It is a convex V chances are you will not be able to play on it.

Welcome to TrumpetMaster and the best advice you are going to get here is to keep your own mouthpiece and practice.

The Jet Tone MF will not be your answer.

Hy Niko,I agree with Solar Bell on the the Jet Tone Piece.I tried one on my short cornet and did not like it one bit.I also played on a Bach 1 1/2c for the last 4 yrs and like yourself liked it but found it a bit to much work to play. For the past month or so I"ve been playing on a vintage Olds 7c heavy weight that I picked up on Ebay.So far I love it.It plays so easy and sound great.I dont know why because its a vintage and i HAVE NO SPECS.on it.If you can get your hands on one please give it a try.Since we both like the bach 1 1/2c we must have somewhat the same taste in a mouthpiece and I am betting you will love the olds 7c as much as I do.Good luck Don.

Re: Jet tone MPs

There is no bite on the MF Jettone. The only people I've known to play it successfully used it exclusively.
Try: Curry 1.5M or 1.5*, Warburton 3SV, Reeves 3S, Purviance 10, MMP Bob Findley, Stork Studiomaster 4?, Schilke or Yamaha 14A4a, Jettone Merian S or 1M (T2B), etc etc

MFFan and I just had lunch together, down in Kalamazoo and did some horn show offs to each other. He had an elderly Cleveland Musical Instrument cornet that had a Jettone Maynard Ferguson S mouthipece in the receiver. When I looked that mouthpiece over I noticed and mentioned to Dave the severe amount of bite that was made with.

By the way, Dave 'promptly' fell head over heels in love with my recently acquired Conn 2B New World Symphony trumpet.

Re: Jet tone MPs

Bach 1& 1/2C is big,the MF mouthpieces are very hard to play [very narrow ,shallow no cup to speak of] if you want to try a JETTONE try the DS mouthpiece, the Schilke 14A4A would also be worth a try.

Re: Jet tone MPs

Hi all,

I know all the usual spiel about "each to his own", but i have been on the Jet Tone website and i like the sound of the Jet Tone Leon Merian Sizzler or Merian Sizzler X. Has anyone tried them and if i bought it from the internet and didnt like it would i be able to send it back? I have only ever bought a Kelly mouthpiece, i have used a Bach 7c since i started playing, so i dont know what normally happens when you buy from an internet seller...

Re: Jet tone MPs

Nikco, I am a big fan of using the right tools for the job. In my opinion you have to work too hard to play a Bach 1.5C on lead. I would go for an E cup on a Bach, 3, 5 or 7 if you have them. The E cup is shallow but no where near as shallow as a lot of lead mouthpieces and you should still be able to get a decent full tone.
