![]() | Re: Joke??? "You win the mute and IMMEDIATELY pay in full via PayPal. My performance fee of $5000 is non-negotiable. You travel to Rochester, NY, and you pay your own travel and lodging expenses. You meet me at a venue of my choosing, at a time of my choosing. Recording rights to this event can be purchased for an additional $5000 PLUS a royalty commission, by contract, of no less than 50% of each unit sold; you bring and set up your own recording equipment IN ADVANCE but you will not direct me as to how to position myself to the mic and as to what dynamics I shall play. I will, however, ingratiate you to request tunes. I will deem if your requested tunes are worthy of my performing them. I will play a half hour of solo trumpet for you and I will use the mute in this listing on some tunes. You do not "sit in." You LISTEN. At the end of the half hour, you will have had a lesson you will always remember as a revelatory privilege and honor. You will then leave with your mute as a souvenir of your life changing encounter with the Grand High Exalted martin_michaels." this guy is not joking... he really belives what he said... it looks like a psycho problem to me...

![]() ![]() | Re: Joke??? We know the seller doesn't like criticism of his "mute for sale" that's for sure. He also doesn't have much patience with those who ask him questions either. Of course, he the self-proclaimed "Grand High Exalted...right honorable M_M_" so who are we to argue with him? He won't be getting my $5,000 for sure! If I recall there is a ongoing thread on this matter in the "other forum" he complains about. Maybe he figures people here are impressed by his arguments not thinking that some frequent the "other" forum. Best wishes, Lloyd Last edited by lmf; 09-29-2009 at 09:13 PM. Reason: Had to go find one of my old mutes to sell for $5,000 and get into the act. |

![]() ![]() | Re: Joke??? As usual, you get two completely different viewpoints depending on who you talk to (or, in this case, read). The ebay listing referred to another, unnamed, trumpet forum so I went to the obvious candidate, and sure enough, there is a lengthy thread there about this and it gives a 180 degree different view. So, apparently this is not a joke, at least in the mind of the seller. But, it seems that there are some petty comments going both ways. But, at the very least the ebay listing is a very informative history of the vintage Harmon mutes, for those who are interested - both of them.
