A little help with Monette sizing

I currently Play on a GR 3M, I tried out a guys Monette B6 today just for the heck of it, and It was ok, It felt on the small side as far as cup diameter and how it felt on my mouth, and I found range a bit more difficult on the B6 than on my GR 3M. I guess I'm just curious about all the good things I've heard of Monette. I'm wondering what I should try next that might be a closer fit to my 3M.

I am pretty happy with my 3M, I don't really have any complaints about it, I guess its just my curiosity that seems to be digging at me. Any recomendations?

I think the B4S would be closer to your GR 3M in terms of diameter, rim contour and bite.

I love my Monette stuff, but if you're happy with what you've got, why change?

I guess the curiosity, I might stumble on something I love even more, I might have to give one a try.

Re: A little help with Monette sizing

Keep in mind that the Monette mouthpieces follow a different basic concept. The octaves are a little further apart meaning that you have to relax - especially in the high register. If you keep switching back and forth, you will probably not use either mouthpiece to its full advantage. There is no voodoo here, just a different mathematical base.
If you dig the sound, it is worth it, but then stop playing the other one for 6 months. A great suggestion I remember reading here at TM was to put the old mouthpiece in a plastic cup, fill it with water and put it in the freezer. The effort involved in defrosting it will limit the temptation to confuse your face by switching! After 6 months, defrost and try the old piece. You will then know for sure which is better!
