Monette cases

Hi there,

I just ordered a B flat XLT horn from Monette. I don't know which case to get from them. Does anyone have some recommendations or experience with either the single or double case. From what I've heard is that the double case is great but very heavy (and that's without the horn in it). Anyone know about the single case? Any comments would be appreciated.

The single case is nice: not incredibly heavy and very good protection. Depending on what you have on the second spot, the double can be very heavy. I had one friend who had a B-flat and C Ajna II in his double case and it almost killed me when I carried it for him once.

Although Monette recommends his own cases, you might check out Marcus Bonna cases. My old teacher used a MB single case for his Raja and it worked fine. The XLT is closer to the dimensions of a "conventional" intrument, so you have a bit more freedom in what case you choose. Remember that if you go with a non-Monette case, make sure there is ABSOLUTELY NO PRESSURE ON THE BELL.

Hope this helps,
Jimi
