| Monette Double Case Just wondering if anyone has feedback on this case. All I've heard is how sturdy they are and is a bit on the heavy side. I have the Monette single case - but for multiple horns - I don't trust my MB triple to carry my new XLT horn. Any response from current users? |

![]() | Re: Monette Double Case The Monette doubles are REALLY heavy, and not ergonomically designed. No place for music, and no shoulder strap. A friend of mine uses a MB quad for his XLT. I use a Marcus Bonna double for my C997 and B937. I haven't had any problems, although those are heavier horns. -Jimi |

| Re: Monette Double Case The Monette double is very sturdy but like Jimi said, it's heavy! According to Dave, he doesn't like to have the horns upended in the case because it stresses the bell, hence no shoulder strap (note: don't get after ME if you don't believe it, I'm just reporting what they say!) As long as I don't have a really long way to walk, I don't mind the Monette double, really. After a while, I've found that my back feels better when I carry heavy stuff in my hand rather than over my shoulder anyway. It's not the most convenient case in the world, but it keeps my horns safe. Jason. |

![]() | Re: Monette Double Case breden- What kind of XLT did you get? Prana? Bb or C? Finish? A friend of mine has a silver plated B-flat, pre-Prana. It plays like a dream, but it is so incredibly light... -Jimi |

| Re: Monette Double Case Hi there, Yeah - its a PRANA version B flat. Was going to have it in raw brass - but there was a mix up at the shop and it got gold plated. The horn was picked up last August - and I've been meaning to put in a review - but haven't gotten to that. I love that horn. For me - it makes playing easier. The slotting is incredible and the high register really pops out. I am thankful that I get to play that horn. You know you have something special when you feel that way during and after you put the horn away. I'm all for the thinking that not all horns work for everyone. For me - the Monette is the only horn that plays this way - and I love it. My section mates were a little concerned with the whole blend issue last September - with the XLT - not a problem. One side note - with the top line F - I was really sharp - even with the slide out. After a call to Dean in the shop - I got the caps fitted right (XLT as you know don't have the O rings) and it worked better. I don't understand it - and wouldn't have believed it - but tweeking the bottom caps did make a bit difference in intonation. Anyways - really happy to be with that horn - got the single case and am a bit freaked out with putting it in any other case that might put undo stress on it.. Sorry for the long response. |

| Re: Monette Double Case I used to have and use this case. You sorta get used to hauling it around. I actually really liked it because I do think that it's by far the most protective great case ever invented (I like the single too!!!). However, I sold it because I really needed a triple, and went with the Marcus Bonna (which I still use and love). It is indeed heavy, but I took it on tour to Scotland/England at one point, as well as lugged it around at a couple of ITG conventions and it wasn't THAT bad. Then again, I'm a buff stud. ;) LE |

There is no room for a stand, mutes or sheet music. I have never been turned down taking it on board by any airline. They hold up incredibly well. |
