![]() | Re: Are monette mouthpieces the best* mouthpieces They play more different more. Some people like them, some don't. My current teacher hates them. A lot. My previous teacher played them exclusively and has 2 or 3 monette horns. You'll get strong opinions in response. You definitely need to pick your mpc very carefully though - I started playing with monette mpcs that were waaay to big for me.

I rather enjoy the Monette mouthpiece but then again it is the Indian and not the Bow and Arrow just choose what best suits your playing abilities.

![]() | Re: Are monette mouthpieces the best* mouthpieces Just like any other mouthpiece, if it's a good match and works well with you, it's a great mouthpiece. If not, then it's not a good one for you. No more mysterious than that. Visit the shop if you're interested. They love the trumpet and will try to find something that works for you.

![]() | Re: Are monette mouthpieces the best* mouthpieces Hello RAK,If you like a Olds 3,Check out a Conn CKB 7C Trumpet M.P. You may like it even better. Kelly Mouthpieces had a good sale on them. They were new original pieces. Very similar rim, good bite, with more mass balanced through the whole piece. I to have been pondering over those Monette M.P's. His inner rim sizes run rather large, even in a Bach 7C size compared to the new and older Bach inner rim sizes. In the video demo, the player takes his lips off the Monette m.p. three times, did not on the other pieces. That in itself with three good breath's would help center each note. Just my observation, may be very wrong. I have a friend in Texas, that likes his Monette M.P.'s a lot, sounds the best on them. May try one someday. I recently bought a brand new small letter Bach 7C that has a inner rim size close to a Bach 3C to Bach 1 1/2C inner rim size, but has the Bach 7C rim design. I figure it may have been made during the Bach Strike,to be that oversized. It also has a minor cosmetic marr in the inner rim. Do not feel it and does not affect the sound. Awhile back got a new Bach 5B Cornet m.p. that had that same flaw inside the cup. Played fine though, going to resell cheap, to big for me. Someone out there likes the larger Bach inner rim sizes, and wishes they could get one with a Bach 7C rim. Good luck on trying out a Monette M.P. Last edited by study888; 10-29-2009 at 01:15 AM. ![]() ![]() | Re: Are monette mouthpieces the best* mouthpieces Every mouthpiece maker claims that their mouthpieces are the best ones on the market, the trick is to find the best one for you , if there really was one best mouthpiece out there , then they would be the only brand left because everyone would be using them. |

![]() | Re: Are monette mouthpieces the best* mouthpieces My only problem with them is (a) the assumption that everyone has to use all kind of crazy physical tension to fight normal mouthpieces, and (b) there is always that underline idea that relaxing and playing in the center of the pitch is somehow limited to only Monette equipment. When I see someone adjusting and fighting the horn the way he describes, they are normally a high school, or early college, student. Not an attack of Dave, or his equipment, just an observation about his sales pitch for his mouthpieces and horns. And by the way, most of his rims are copies of Bach rims.
