mount vernon vincent bach 1 1/4 C trumpet mouthpiece

i recently acquired a mount vernon vincent bach 1 1/4 mouthpiece. went to chk out the value and saw a couple out there for around $350 - $450 bucks. i tried it. seems like a pretty smooth mouthpiece. i'm currently using a bach 5 megatone and i like it better. it only cost 75 bucks. anyone know why the 1 1/4 would cost so much?

I suppose it's because the Bach Mount Vernon Bach mouthpieces aren't made anymore. Not sure they're worth $400. But to some people, maybe they are.

Mark Curry's mouthpieces are based on the old Mt. Vernons. Way, way cheaper than $400. The Mt. Vernon mouthpiece tooling ended up at Benge, and before he started making mouthpieces, Dave Monette recomended the 1 1/4 C for his early trumpets.

    My extent of 1 1/4 C trivia.

$400 seems around right. My buddy just bought a New York 1 for around $500. But it depends on condition. Are you looking to sell it?

maybe... haven't played with it enough yet. it's in excellent condition, no dings, all silver still heavy.. clean all the way around.

If it is original, $400 would be towards the top, $350ish sounds about right. You have a rare mouthpiece that is a bathtub. I am sure you can find a buyer somewhere.
