Mouthpiece Ok, right now i have a king 601 trumpet with a blessing 3c mouthpiece, personally i would like to add to the collection of my 2 mouthpieces that i have right now (7c and 3c), i am just wondering what kind to get, 5c, etc. Also, are megatone mouthpieces good?

Re: Mouthpiece Why would you want a collection of mouthpieces? You should find the one that suits you best and use it. I have 2 Gr's, identical except for backbore, a NB 63***, a Schilke flugelhorn mouthpiece and my father's old Zottola 64C which is a keepsake. I use one mouthpiece 99% of the time. You can throw away a lot of money building a collection. -cw-

Re: Mouthpiece Been there, done that! None of my teachers ever gave me any guidance in that area, so I was left to do what I wanted. After many GR's, a Stork, tried some Reeves', and a Warburton, I'm back on the Bach 3C -- the piece I played all throughout high school! To use an old expression, sometimes you've just gotta dance with who brung ya!

Re: Mouthpiece If you really feel you need a new mouthpiece, have someone take you to Eastside Music, it's on Gratiot at 11 Mile Rd. (696) Your school uses Eastside for it's instrument program. Call ahead and make sure Jason is there. He is a good trumpet player and teacher. He can steer you in the right direction. If you're lucky you might even catch me there. I visit there at times. -cw-

Re: Mouthpiece Having a mouthpiece collection is probably the main thing that had ruined me as a player. Just food for thought.

Re: Mouthpiece Schilke 13A4a..... Just kidding........ Well, maybe not! I actually dragged mine out for the third set of a big band gig I subbed a month or two ago. I don't do these gigs too often any more, and thought I could make it 3 hours on lead on a 3C. My mistake. The Schlike gave me some range for that last hour. Overall, though, the best advice is to find a good, middle of the road mouthpiece you like, and practice.

Re: Mouthpiece I'm currently playing a Stork mouthpiece. I found one back in high school at a music store for next to nothing. I tried it, loved it, and bought it. Recently it got chipped on the rim (by my curious little cousin dropping it
