![]() | Mouthpiece Help!!! Hi I am a junior in high school and I'm playing 1st trumpet. Right now I'm using a 6c Vincent Bach Corp mp. I wanna get a mp that makes playing in the upper register easier but at the same time I can use it to play mid to low notes. Theres some many out there that I don't know what to pick. Can any one help me? Oh yeah... when ever I'm playing anything above a mid G, I can hear the note but at the same time I can hear the air coming out, well sometimes. I'm not sure if its because of my embachure. I can use all the help that I can get, thanks. |

![]() | Re: Mouthpiece Help!!! You'll hear this advice again and again....it's good advice. The only thing that will give you a reliable upper register is diligent practice under the guidance of a good teacher. The mouthpiece is important but the skills and technique of the player are essential. The mouthpiece is the icing on the cake. The air leakage above G (I assume G above the staff) is symptomatic of your level of development. Sounds like you need a trumpet teacher. Regards, Trevor |

THAT is where you need to focus. Do a search here on embouchure and breathing. That is the only help that will accomplish anything!

I played a Jet Tone Bill Chase for over twenty years, that is like the Schilke 6A4a. I had no problems with high notes or low notes. It ain't the mouthpiece, it's the player. -cw-

![]() | Re: Mouthpiece Help!!! Bach 6C is a very good mouthpiece. I wouldn`t change it at this stage of you`r development. Find a private teacher who can help you through this, in the mean time work on long tones and lip slur`s no louder than mp, hint the softer the better. there is no magic mouthpiece that`s why there are so many different brand`s size`s shapes etc. Hang in there and practice.
