My mouthpiece journey...

So far......
I started playing a 14B4, slightly smaller than a 3C. I 'think' I bottomed out a lot on that piece and my teacher recommended I purchase a 3C. While waiting for the 3C to arrive by mail, I played a 1 1/2C for a week or so. It felt wonderful! When my 3C arrived, my teach snatched his 1.5C back and I went to work on the 3C. It felt much better than the 14B4, not as good as the 1.5C, but close. I kept at it for the next couple years. About a month ago, Mouthpiece Express had a sale I couldn't resist. I bought a 1.5C to try again. Immediately, I noted a performance improvement. Attacks are better, My tone is more robust. It hasn't affected my range more than a 1/2 step, maybe. This time I'm sticking with it. It's been a month now and I think the honeymoon period should be over. I still really, really like the piece. I found a 1 1/4C and thought to give that a try. Whoa, buddy! One step too far there! I do believe the 1.5C is for me. I only wish I'd stuck with it a couple years ago when I first tried it. Sometimes it's good to stick with your 'gut feeling' and intuition. Maybe.......
