Need some Help!

Hey, I'm new to this forum...so excuse me if this has already been posted..not sure where to put it but this seems to maybe be the place? if not let me know and i will repost elsewhere!
I currently play a virtu 621 with a 5C stomvi mouthpiece. I play lead in the jazz ensemble at Winona State University. I can play high enough for that mostly. But when I really try and pop the high notes and long notes i feel like there is a lot of resistance. Almost like all the air i have can't actually get through the horn..I produce a lot of air lol..but when this happens i end up "popping my cheek", not sure what the technical term is. I feel like it could be the lead pipe or the mouthpiece...i don't really know much about the construction of horns but any help would be nice!
Also,
I'm a freshman majoring in Trumpet Performance!
Thanks,
Hayden

Re: Need some Help!

Here is some good advice...

Get in touch with a member here out of Chicago...Nick Drozdoff.

Nick Drozdoff :: Home

Nick is a great all around player Lead Ride and Side.

You might even consider a quick trip to Chicago, you're not that far away.

Good Luck.

I would trust your prof, or find a different school. Worshipping two gods normally is the best road to hell.

Re: Need some Help!

Yeah, but I don't really like the guy that is teaching me. I'd rather have an adjunt who focuses mainly on jazz..this guy hates jazz
